Italy Trip with Alumni, Parents and Friends

Alumni Director Anne Graffice and 45 guests including alumni, parents and friends spent ten days in beautiful Italy.  During the trip, they had the opportunity to attend two concerts where the Mount Union choir performed.

A message from Anne Graffice, Director of Alumni Relations and University Activities

I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Italy to share in our Choir Tour.  Our travel group consisted of 45 guests including alumni, parents and friends all who spent ten days in beautiful Italy.  During the trip, we attended three concerts by the Mount Union choir, the first at the Church of San Tommaso in Castel Gandolfo, the second at the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major and their last performance was at the Church of Santo Stefano al Ponte in Florence.  Led my interim choral director, C.M. Shearer, (who did an incredible job this past year) the choir sounded amazing, each concert being widely attended by locals and tourists alike who happened to hear their beautiful sound coming from one of our venues.  Stay tuned for actual concert footage, to be posted soon.

We toured Rome, Siena, Tuscany, Montecatini, Florence, Naples and Pompeii. Highlights were many including a tour of the Sistene Chapel and the Vatican, Michelangelo’s David, the Coliseum, the ancient Roman Forum, Fattoria dei Barbi, a local winery with a private tasting and Mount Vesuvius.  Our group had two local tour guides as well as one from our tour company who together were able to make each experience and location come to life historically.  We dined together and apart, each time investigating and learning about Italian culture, how to order, how much NOT to order, as Italians eat A LOT and for A LONG TIME and really had the opportunity to explore Italy in a way that was fun for everyone. The group began as strangers, and left after ten days as great friends, promising to do it all again somewhere different very soon…so keep checking back, the alumni office will be investigating new traveling opportunities and will post them once we have decided where we will venture to next. Join the fun, let us know you might be interested and we will make sure to keep you in the email loop of information.  Email us at and put “travel” in the subject line and we will know what you mean! Unitl then, Ciao!
