What a trip - Stagg Bowl 2009!!!!
Fans departed Alliance, OH under cloudy skies at various times of the day on Friday, December 18 full of excitement to cheer on the Purple Raiders to a victory. However, the weather had a different agenda leaving many fans stranded in West Virginia and Virginia for hours! Some finally arrived in Salem, VA while others had to spend the night in their cars, on the Alumni bus, or in shelters. With weather conditions worsening and 16 inches of snow, the game was postponed to 4 p.m.
Many fans never made it to Salem for the game while others that did get there had to first get out of the snowed in hotel parking lot! A declared VA State of Emergency meant nothing to the Raider fans that traveled for hours to get to the game and were determined to arrive at the stadium - we were there to cheer the team on....
